It was alright. tbh I don't think it's very accessible to someone who hasn't heard much about linguistics in general or Chomsky in particular before.I picked this book on a whim, but it was a bad whim. Thumbing through the book, the art was quirky and I thought it might be an easy introduction to linguistics, a topic I know nothing about. My main gripe is that the topics are covered in such little depth and switched between so quickly that I never had time to digest any of the ideas. Im not sure if this book was meant to be a reference, but it would be a poor one at that. A lot of the explanations straddled the line between hand wavey and
A nice introduction to complex linguistic ideas such as universal grammar, i/e-language, and deep structure. I confess I spent some sections of the book re-reading and wishing it was a reddit 'explain it to me like i'm 5' interactive forum instead.
a very good book about Noam Chomsky's contribution and theories in language
A very good introduction to Chomsky's work on linguistics, which still seems a bit confusing to me, but a good deal less than it did. Very helpful. Also a nice introduction to his political thought. Well written and laid out.
Why was there political history? Also, wasn't easy to comprehend some of the topics. Although they seemed to be pretty easy when looked on the internet. Didn't like it much.
A clear,condensed explanation of Chomsky's linguistics.The section on his politics provides an insightful critique of capitalism and American policy.
